by MyLinda Butterworth
illustrations by Matthew Mercer winner of the iParenting Media Award

Nicole is afraid of the dark. No matter how many times her mommy tells her there are no monsters, Nicole knows they are hiding in her room — in the closet, under her bed, and in the clothes she sometimes leaves on the floor.
Sound familiar? Most children know what Nicole is going through — and most parents can relate as well. But how can a parent calm these fears?

MyLinda Butterworth offers a novel solution in her new book, The Monster Run. Written by Butterworth, with colorful and amusing illustrations by Matthew Mercer, The Monster Run is “based on a true story.” “When my daughter excitedly told me how Papa had chased away the monsters forever, I was skeptical,” admits Butterworth. “But true to his word, the monsters never came back to our house.”
Children, parents, and of course, grandparents, will love the fun yet easy way to banish monsters forever, yet leave any child feeling safe and loved. The perfect bedtime story.

Other bedtime tips Butterworth (and her parents) suggest include a routine like the one Nicole follows in the book, getting a story, a lullaby, and having a nightlight turned on.  Butterworth hopes that The Monster Run will help many more children find peace in the darkness.

Publisher Comments:”This book does what a classic bedtime storybook should— it gives giggles and comfort. It allows you to empower a child with the ability to get rid of the monsters in the house with the loving help of an adult. We believe you will be find the “based on a true story” approach gives you and your children an I can do it to feeling. We however warn you that you might actually have to chase the monsters from the house after reading the book to your kids over, and over and over again.”

Author Comments: “There is nothing like a real life experience to inspire you to write a book. So it was with “The Monster Run.” As most parents know going out with your spouse when your kids are young is a treat, but coming home to hilarious stories is choice beyond words. Hearing about how my father chased the monsters from the house with my 4 year old daughter was a laught a minute, I only wish I could have seen it. It is my hope that just like my daugher you will find peace in the darkness.”

“P.S. The monsters never came back and we all lived happily ever after.”

This book will take you on a journey from your head to your heart and you will come to realize that you are not alone.

From the Author: This book is especially dedicated to all those people who have been hurt in the name of religion, who grew up with a God who was portrayed to be mean.

It also is dedicated to those people who, through the ages, have suffered physically and emotionally because some humans with religious authority thought they should. My prayer is that you would come to know a loving and accepting God through the pages of this book which tells about my own journey in healing and spiritual grace.

HOPE SANDWICH

by Millie Nohren

Grief doesn’t come with an appetite, but we still come to the table.

Hope Sandwich…Finding Your Recipe in Life After Loss is a gift book for people who are grieving after a loss. Focused on hope rather than grief, it invites readers to express their own story of how we can grow closer to God in the midst of loss.

It begins with the loss of a child leaving the family only one place to turn: their deep and abiding faith. While facing the difficulties of grief, they coped through a metaphorical meal of hope sandwiches representing the positive dreams and aspirations for themselves and the lost child.

Millie Nohren knows what it is like to lose a child. She’s been there. She knows the difficulty of grief. She’s been there. Her story evolved into Hope Sandwich which shows how she made a recipe for her life after loss and that others can too.
Loving words, hopeful scriptures, uplifting photos, prayers and pages for readers to start their own grief journal, Hope Sandwich is well suited for families with any type of loss.

HISTORYOur History books provide unique perspectives on events in our past.

Under Wraps: one soldiers hidden diary of WWII

by Jay Coffman with Tom Fulks

Under Wraps is a compilation of a clandestine diary Army sergeant Jay Coffman kept during his involvement in World War II’s Pacific Theater. It was against regulations to keep a diary during that campaign due to operational security reasons, so the author had to keep it hidden away from his superiors eyes. This book provides an intimate window into one American family s support of the war and the family members involved in it at home and on the front lines.

Military historians will find this a good firsthand source of details of what life was like on the Pacific islands, what their day-to-day concerns were, and the enormous logistical challenges faced by our troops. During this summer s celebration of WWII vets, this book will be a good source of information to those of us wishing to pay tribute to the men and women who helped defeat worldwide tyranny.

The Enoch Train Pioneers:
Trek of the First Two handcart companies-1856

by Robert O. Day
Illustrated by Linda S. Day

On September 26, 1856 the first two handcart companies arrived in the Salt Lake Valley. They were weary of body but joyous in spirit as they walked into the valley having begun their journey Liverpool, England on route by clipper ship to the America to join other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their trek took them by ship, bus, train and finally by handcart to the Great Salt Lake Valley.

This book recounts the trials and triumphs of their journey based on journals and other historical documents. Originally written in script form and performed to packed audiences at the Museum of Church History and Art in Salt Lake City in 1994. This is the story of the first two pioneer handcart companies of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and their journey from Liverpool, England to Salt Lake City, Utah. The book is based upon actual journal and diary entries of these real pioneers.
