      • Former Resident Gives Benefit Performances for Grant Elementary School
        (September 2005) When Linda S. Day decided to return to Long Beach for her 50 year Jordan High School class reunion she thought it would be "fun to give back to the city that raised her." So on Friday, September 9th, Day who is affectionately known as Grandma will arrive at Grant Elementary School in her large flowered hat and oversized apron to do a daylong benefit performance for her old elementary school.

      • Hidden WWII Diary to be introduced by Local Author
        (February 2006) Jay Coffman took a big risk in keeping a diary during his time as an infantryman in the South Pacific during World War II. Living in a combat zone during the war meant that it was a court martial offense to keep a diary, yet Jay wrote of his experiences on scraps of paper and hid them in his personal effects.
